Joining the ever-growing list of international
filmmakers coming down to India is director Ang Lee. Apparently the
Oscar-winning director (best-known for films like Brokeback Mountain and
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is planning to come down to India some
time later this year to promote his film Life of Pi that stars Tabu,
Irrfan, Tobey Maguire and Gerard Depardieu among others. The film was
extensively shot in Puducherry last year in January and there’s buzz
that the filmmaker and the studio may host a grand premiere in India,
apart from hosting an international premiere with the entire cast and
crew in attendance. According to a source, the studio is already in
talks with the director to schedule his dates accordingly, as these
things need extensive planning, months before it actually gets
finalised. “Lee himself was keen to tour the country, but his film
schedules left him little time to do so the last time he was here during
the shoot of the film. But this time, he’s hoping to have two-three
days kept aside to tour some of the places he’s been keen to visit,”
says the source. |
