actor Simi Garewal has launched her own website

Simi launches own website
She has always had a sense of mystery around her, but now actor Simi Garewal has launched her own website to give a peek into her personal life. She launched it on October 17, her 64th birthday. “You know, all my life I have been a very private person. I have stayed out of the gossip columns and tabloids, because I love my privacy. But I realised, because of that, I seem to have built invisible walls around me. Over the years I have received wonderful messages and a great deal of affection from my loyal fans, which has really touched me. So, I thought, why keep these walls that separate us? Why not build bridges instead — so I can reach out to them — and they to me? That’s when I decided that creating my own personal website could be that bridge. My site is going to continue to grow. I will constantly update and add to it. And I hope it will become interactive soon.” She will share details about her encounters with Rajiv Gandhi, Raj Kapoor, Satyajit Ray, among others and her comments on the guests on her TV show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal.

Bachchans gave it a miss

The entire Bachchan family chose to avoid Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s Hindu wedding ritual on Tuesday night, except for Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Amitabh’s daughter was the only person from their clan to attend it. Though it was expected that the Bachchans might not attend the ceremony, due to Abhishek’s past history with Kareena’s sister Karisma, it was surprising to see Shweta at the do. A source says, “Shweta attended the do since she is actually related to the Kapoor family. She is married to Nikhil Nanda. Nikhil’s mother Ritu Nanda is Kareena’s father, Randhir Kapoor’s sister. She was accompanied by husband Nikhil, son Agastya and mother-in-law Ritu at the lavish do.” Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan was spotted at the Mata Ki Chowki held at sanjay Dutt's home

When the team of Ishqk in Paris was shooting in Paris

Close Call
When the team of Ishqk in Paris was shooting in Paris, there was one particular scene which was shot in a small room. It was supposed to be a two day shoot but on day one itself the cast and crew started feeling irritated and angry. A couple of crew members even fell on the sets and hurt themselves. The entire shoot couldn’t be completed on that day. The next day just before they were going to shoot they realised that the room was actually used to keep dead bodies since a science research team had rented it. And while the research team was away, the room was assigned by the landlord to shoot. Understanding the negativity of the dead bodies and the reason why all of them were in a bad state of mind, the director decided to cancel the entire scene of the film, since it ended up giving a bad feeling.

Veteran actor Vyjayanthimala will be sharing a message for a cause in an upcoming film

Veteran actress Vyjayanthimala Bali, who was last seen on the big screen in 1970’s Ganwaar opposite Rajendra Kumar, is set for her big screen outing after almost 42 years. The actress will be seen giving an important message in support of a medical cause in the upcoming Sandeep Malani and Kalpana Pandit film Janleva 555.
“Kalpana and I had approached Vyjayanthmalaji requesting her to provide us a Critical Medical Cause message to the audiences, as she is one of the most loved actors ever and her name is etched forever in the annals of Indian Cinema,” reveals Sandeep, adding that the actress immediately agreed when she was told about the cause. “On hearing the nature of the cause, she agreed. What made it more special was that we filmed her at her own ancestral residence in Chennai. We are truly blessed,” adds the filmmaker.
While talking about her return to the big screen, the senior star said, “I was glad to know that Janleva 555 has been made to support and help acquire ventilator systems and supply to the hospitals and it’s indeed a great job. First of all, it is a great thought and it’s very useful for the people in the villages and especially children who die of snake bites. This kind of ventilator system to help children bitten by snakes is a very noble task. I appreciate this work and this project that has been taken up. I wish the makers of the film all success and I request everybody to please watch this film because it will be one-of-its-kind.”
Working with the legendary actor was nothing short of a dream come true for Kalpana. "There can be no bigger blessing for my maiden home production than to receive the good wishes of the first original superstar of Indian Cinema," she said.

The actor will lend support to an inititaive that spreads awareness about sanitation and hygiene

Actor Vidya Balan may maintain a low profile when she’s not promoting her films, but when it comes to supporting any social cause, the actor takes it up on a war-footing. Apart from the several causes that she already supports, she has now tied one more to her pallu. Vidya, who’s the ambassador of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) will now be seen supporting their yatra. Talking about the initiative, a source reveals that it is also called the ‘great wash yatra’ and is a multichannel, mega-campaign that harnesses the positive power of cricket and Bollywood to promote awareness and enact behavioural change around sanitation and hygiene in india. “The Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation’s Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan campaign, Wash United, and Quicksand are working very closely on the yatra. Starting on October 3 in Maharashtra, this yatra will travel through several cities including Indore, Kota, Gorakhpur, Gwalior and Batiya, across the country to bring about an awareness for this issue,” informs the source.
Vidya who feels rather strongly about these issues is said to be very excited about supporting the yatra. “She is known to be extremely choosy when it comes to brands and never endorses anything for the sake of money. In fact, she never endorses anything that she herself doesn’t use or follow. But when it comes to lending support to social causes, she is always ready to do her bit,” says a source close to the star.
“I think there are so many issues that need to be addressed and if we as known faces can help further a cause, then it’s a small way of contributing to society. Also such awareness campaigns go a long way in making people more responsible for their actions,” Vidya had earlier said about lending her name to social causes.

‘I wasn’t afraid to let go of sexy!’ ...reveals young hottie Esha Gupta as she talks about picking hard-hitting roles over the glamorous ones for her innings on the silver screen

‘I wasn’t afraid to let go of sexy!’
...reveals young hottie Esha Gupta as she talks about picking hard-hitting roles over the glamorous ones for her innings on the silver screen
It’s been less than a year since Esha Gupta made her debut on the big screen, but with both her films — Jannat 2 and Raaz 3 — getting the superhit status, she’s already gone on from being a newbie to having a place of her own in Bollywood. The fact that in her upcoming film Chakravyuh, she gets to work with filmmaker Prakash Jha — a director most actors wish to work with — adds a new dimension to her CV. “I’m feeling like Alice in Wonderland, trying to figure out what’s happening or how. All that I do know is that I am moving forward with each day, but there’s no rabbit I am following!” says Esha.
More than the hits, what excites the actor is the variety of roles on her platter. In less than a year, Esha has played a simple girl and danced to glam songs in Jannat 2, then she got to look her “ugliest best” in Raaz 3, and now she is playing a no-nonsense cop in Chakravyuh. Point out that it’s the kind of range most actresses take a while to portray, and she says, “I guess I just got lucky! But that’s the real wow factor in my life rather than just the hit tag.”
Esha however does admit that she was initially apprehensive about getting typecasted in a glam image onscreen, thanks to her modelling image off-screen. “I knew that my sexy image could go against me, but I was not afraid to cast the glamour aside at all. So I jumped when I was offered these films. In Chakravyuh I play a woman, who’s nearly 10 years older than I am. Jha completely normalises glam girls, and I am glad he did the same to me,” shares Esha.
So, which one of her roles did she find the most challenging? “Well, my very first shot in Jannat was canned in Daryaganj (Delhi) amidst a crowd of 5,000. So, that was intimidating for sure, but the film was not much of a tough cookie. The tough one was Raaz 3, because the crying, the screaming and the intensity of it all left me emotionally and physically drained. But I think Chakravyuh is the most challenging. To portray a woman who is a tough-as-nails cop, yet a wife at heart, and do it convincingly was a real challenge,” says Esha. But what about the intimate scenes she’s had to do in her films with co-star Emraan Hashmi? “Well, I have been a model so it was purely work for me. In fact, I saw the films with my parents and they were okay with it,” adds Esha.
With this variety to start off, is there a criteria for her next role? “Directors and the story will be the deciding factors. Banners and co-actors, only matter later, but the first priority has to be the character graph,” she says.

CID now in Bengali
Popular detective series CID, aired on Sony, is all set to go regional. The only serial to have completed 15 years on air, CID will be remade in Bengali with a new cast. It will be called CID Kolkata Bureau and will have a dash of local flavour with stories influenced by Bengali culture. ACP Pradyuman will be ACP Beerashingha, Aditya will be Ronojay and Daya will be Tej. Producer BP Singh is currently in Kolkata finalising details. Says Singh, “Kolkata has a tradition of suspense and mystery dramas. It already has its share of popular detectives Feluda and Byomkesh Bakshi. CID is also extremely popular in Kolkata.
