Popular detective series CID, aired on Sony, is all set to go regional. The only serial to have completed 15 years on air, CID will be remade in Bengali with a new cast. It will be called CID Kolkata Bureau and will have a dash of local flavour with stories influenced by Bengali culture. ACP Pradyuman will be ACP Beerashingha, Aditya will be Ronojay and Daya will be Tej. Producer BP Singh is currently in Kolkata finalising details. Says Singh, “Kolkata has a tradition of suspense and mystery dramas. It already has its share of popular detectives Feluda and Byomkesh Bakshi. CID is also extremely popular in Kolkata. It will be a challenge to make a new Bengali series which is good and at the same time does not harm the original CID.” Popular Bengali TV actor Kaushik Bannerjee is said to be in talks to play the pivotal role ACP Beerashingha.
