Coat uncoat!

Sandy is now raving about Ranbir Kapoor and papa Rishi’s first ever jugalbandi act at the recent IIFA Awards. Apparently, during a costume change in the middle of their performance, they tried to shrug into each other’s jackets by mistake.

Giggling, Sandy says that of course, it was a bit of a tight fit for daddy but guess what, he managed to squeeze himself into Ranboo’s coat! And they went on to bring the house down as you will see when the show is aired! Sandra now wants to see if she can wear my jacket. Ufff, these sillies, I tell you! But kya karen, such is life dearies!

ABHI AND HIS PAA

“I was a year-and-a-half when I went on the sets of Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) on the day that Paa was filming ‘My name is Anthony Gonsalves’. I was too young to remember anything about the shoot but like any kid from the ’70s, I grew up dancing to my favourite song,” reminisces Abhishek who recently watched Amitabh popping out of an egg again to recreate the iconic moment for Bol Bachchan’s title track. Quiz him on the recent shoot and he says, “I have danced with my father before in ‘Kajra re’ (Bunty Aur Babli, 2005) and Ajay (Devgn) has a great working relationship with him. We were both chilled out, it was Rohit (director Rohit Shetty) who was super
excited!”

Play time

Naseeruddin Shah and wife Ratna Pathak Shah, who were also present there. They seem to have had a gala time and apparently thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the play. Okaaaaay! I wonder why Kiran was watching Piya Behroopiya. Kuch toh baat hain!
After Imran Khan, it’s time for his mami Kiran Rao. My natak khabroo, Albela tells me that he spotted Aamir
Khan’s wifey dear at Rang Sharda the other evening. Accompanied by a curly-haired friend who looked pretty much like her, Kiran had gone there to watch a play. The play was the Hindi version of Shakespeare’s, Twelfth Night, called Piya Behroopiya. Kiran and this friend

Classic Remakes! Musician brothers, duo Salim and Sulaiman plan to re-enliven the golden era of Bollywood music

Classic Remakes!
Musician brothers, duo Salim and Sulaiman plan to re-enliven the golden era of Bollywood music

Music mavericks Salim-Sulaiman have been associated with some remarkable hits and collaborations, both with Indian and international artists — including Bollywood remixes for Grammy award-winning Lady Gaga for her songs Born This Way and Judas. Their next musical offering is The Bollywood Musical, which they call a ‘dream project’ — a pack of remakes of old classics from the ’60s and ’70s.
“Both Sulaiman and I had been planning to recreate the old melodies of the golden era of music, for over four years now,” reveals Salim Merchant. “And then recently we were approached with a similar idea, and that was it! We immediately agreed on it and took it further.”
The brothers are currently in the stage of selecting the songs, that they would want to recreate in a contemporary manner, some of them being Chura Liya, Lag Ja Gale, Zindagi Ka Safar, etc. “We’re still at the stage where we are selecting the songs. There will be 25 songs — including our personal favourites. It’s our dream project to recreate and re-present the imcredible melodies by RD Burman, SD Burman, Shankar Jaikishan and other geniuses of that era,” explains Salim. The final record, which is scheduled to be finished by October this year, will be a fashionable drums-guitar version of these classics, still incorporating the original orchestral style —which will be recreated by the group of 28 instrumentalists, eight vocalists and the chorus.
“I see it as a record which will be liked by the youth, and will retain the authentic orchestral flavour of the original songs, though we’ll be reproducing them completely, and infusing them with high energy!,” says Salim. The duo — that’s been associated with some big Bollywood chartbusters like Ainvayi Ainvayi, Chak De, and Fashion among many others — is looking forward to this project, and have grand plans to take it further. “We will be doing live shows and tours. The venues too are going to be some historical monuments like the Taj Mahal (Agra), the Lal Qila (Delhi), and of course the Gateway of India in Mumbai. Next we’ll take it to London and beyond.”

Kim apologises for calling Indian food ‘disgusting’
After describing Indian food “disgusting’ on Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, international socialite Kim Kardashian took to her official website to set the record straight, insisting she meant no offence to people of Indian heritage. “I said that I thought Indian food was disgusting. In NO way was this intended as an insult to the Indian people or their culture. This is just my own personal taste,” News.com.au quoted her as posting on her blog. The move followed heavy criticism from the Twittersphere after the show went to air. “I think its good Kim Kardashian doesn't like Indian food because that means she won’t ever visit India and that in itself is a blessing,”
