All are special!
...Says actor Saif Ali Khan, as he talks about his chemistry with his co-stars
Actor Saif Ali Khan will soon be seen romancing girlfriend actor Kareena Kapoor in his spy thriller Agent Vinod. However, the actor insists that though he was always keen for Kareena to be a part of a film that was rather special for him, their personal equation is not the only thing that made her an obvious choice. “Agent Vinod is a special film for me and I really wanted Bebo to be a part of it. But that’s not only because she knows how much it means to me, but also because I know that the role would justify her being in the film. As for Kareena, she anyway is so good an actor that she easily becomes the character she is playing,” says Saif.
But ask the actor if good off screen chemistry translates to good chemistry on screen too and he explains that what works on screen is the chemistry between two characters. “Off screen, it’s Kareena and Saif, but on screen it’s all about the characters that we are playing and that to a great extent depends on external factors too, like screenplay and dialogues,” says the actor. “Though we can never overlook our personal relationship, in front of the camera, we are merely actors and enacting out our parts. So off screen chemistry does impact, but is not a criteria for the chemistry to work on screen too,” he adds. “As actors you don’t have to be in a relationship to make the chemistry work.”
As for his favourite co-stars he is quick to point out that it would be unfair to compare them. “I think all the actresses I have worked with have been very talented including Kareena and I really do cherish the experience of working with each of them. Be it Deepika (Padukone) or Rani (Mukerji), they all have been really special. With Kareena of course, it’s different completely, but on screen like I said, it’s not just us, but our roles that take the wheel when it comes to the chemistry, so all are equally special,” shares Saif.
