Singer Sonu Nigam was in for a pleasant surprise when post his recent peace concert in Colombo, he was invited by the President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapksha to join him for high tea. “It was very sweet of him to invite us all to his place. He very gently appreciated the scale and grandeur of our performance since his wife was present at the show,” said Sonu, who had performed there to a packed crowd of over 25,000. Talking about the topics the two discussed, Sonu adds, “He spoke about Sri Lanka’s friendship with India and how he’s battled a lot of opposition to make his country peaceful. He was also delighted to meet Nevaan (son) as he had heard a lot about his Kolaveri feat.” The singer also revealed that the President had even assigned his personal doctor to take care of his mother, while there. “Even today, we get a lot of calls from them enquiring about my mother’s health,” revealed the singer.
