Special birthday wishes for Shahid

Special birthday wishes for Shahid

Actor Shahid Kapoor was wished a happy birthday by a big chunk of his fans and his celeb friends on Saturday. But among all those who wished him, one name stood out. Actor Bipasha Basu took to Twitter to wish her buddy and tell him that she was missing out on all the fun. "Happy Birthday to a very dear person, @shahidkapoor! Am missing all the fun in Goa! Live it up, u deserve it!" she tweeted. Khabru reminds us that not so long back, the gossip mills had gone into an overdrive linking the two. While Shahid had always maintained a no comments stance, Bips, denied the rumour saying that she's enjoying the attention being given to her single status, after her break up with long time boyfriend, actor John Abraham. It looks like gossip has not harmed the friendly equation Shahid and Bips share, after all.

Actor Celina Jaitly, pregnant with twins, announces that she is due to deliver in a month’s time

Pregnant actor Celina Jaitly is likely to deliver sometime in March. The actor, who is expecting twins with her businessman husband Peter Haag, is currently chilling and enjoying time off work. Sources close to the actor say that Celina is very excited about her pregnancy and just can’t wait to hold her babies. The actor confirmed through her account on social networking site Twitter that she is expecting twins and even revealed that though she completes a full term pregnancy in April, she is due to deliver a month earlier because she is carrying twins. “Celina is in Dubai with Peter. She’s enjoying spending her days, just waiting for her due date to near. She spends her time cooking and having her favourite dishes. Just the other day she tweeted that she was on cloud nine thanks to the perfect breakfast, by the turtle pond, soaking in the crisp weather, sipping on hot tea and porridge.Breakfast couldn’t better for Celina,” says the source. The actor made a conscious decision to maintain a low profile after her marriage and pregnancy, so much so that not many are even aware of the fact that she is expecting soon. “She still gets fan mail asking why she isn’t seen on the social circuit these days. Some even ask her details of her next movie. So Celina jokes that she’s on a maternity break and that it would be difficult to dance and seduce the hero whilst pregnant with twins,” says the source.

Actor Rishi Kapoor is a thorough professional but he doesn't mind letting go of his disciplinarian self occasionally. On the sets of an upcoming comedy film, he had to shoot for a breakfast scene and as luck would have it, Punjabi parathas were prepared for the unit members just before the scene was shot. Being a hardcore foodie, Rishi couldn't control himself and digged into a plate full of piping hot parathas along with the rest of the cast and crew members. "The shoot was happening in London for Housefull 2. Rishi ji would usually have a healthy breakfast but his diet went for a complete toss when he saw parathas being served on the sets that day. As soon as he wiped off the plate, Sajid announced that it was time for the shot to be canned," says a unit member. "Rishi ji was so stuffed that he found it difficult to gulp another morsel. But the scene called for him to take a few bites so he had no choice but to continue with it. Sajid finally thought of a way and shot his scene through several retakes. But Rishi was so full that he skipped lunch and dinner that day and stuck to his health diet for quite a few days after that," adds the source. Sajid also confirms the incident and says that, "Rishi ji had to eat a lot on an already stuffed stomach...but thankfully his dedication didn't lead to medication."

Actor Isha Koppikar who married restaurateur Timmy Narang in 2009 is all set to launch her own chain of restaurants. The actor, who confesses to being health conscious all her life, decided to set up her own chain of health restaurants and promote a healthy lifestyle to everyone. The actor is currently away in the US for a two month professional hospitality course and spoke to us about her plans before she took off.
“I don’t understand anything about business. To begin anything from scratch, I had to obviously learn everything about being an entrepreneur so I decided to take up the course in US to make sure I get my basics right. I have always been fond of food and different cuisines and people are increasingly becoming aware of eating healthy. I wanted to make sure I come up with something that benefits everyone which is why this idea was developed. Of course, Timmy will help me with the entire thing since he is already an established entrepreneur,” she says talking about her plans.
Though Isha is turning restaurateur, acting, she says will always remain her first love. “I love acting and that is what I am here for. I have always loved being in front of the camera and that is never going to change. Movies are my passion but I am done with set-hopping. Right now, my priorities are spending time with family. Acting, as a profession is very time-bound and even otherwise, I have always wanted to be a business woman,” says Isha. Ask her if her priorities in life have changed after marriage and she exclaims, “Of course they have. Your family is your lifeline. At the end of the day, they are the people who stand for you, no matter what. It doesn’t matter if you are a flop actor or a fabulous actor, you family is there for you, irrespective of whether you earn crores of rupees or none,” she concludes.

All are special! ...Says actor Saif Ali Khan, as he talks about his chemistry with his co-stars

...Says actor Saif Ali Khan, as he talks about his chemistry with his co-stars

Actor Saif Ali Khan will soon be seen romancing girlfriend actor Kareena Kapoor in his spy thriller Agent Vinod. However, the actor insists that though he was always keen for Kareena to be a part of a film that was rather special for him, their personal equation is not the only thing that made her an obvious choice. “Agent Vinod is a special film for me and I really wanted Bebo to be a part of it. But that’s not only because she knows how much it means to me, but also because I know that the role would justify her being in the film. As for Kareena, she anyway is so good an actor that she easily becomes the character she is playing,” says Saif.
But ask the actor if good off screen chemistry translates to good chemistry on screen too and he explains that what works on screen is the chemistry between two characters. “Off screen, it’s Kareena and Saif, but on screen it’s all about the characters that we are playing and that to a great extent depends on external factors too, like screenplay and dialogues,” says the actor. “Though we can never overlook our personal relationship, in front of the camera, we are merely actors and enacting out our parts. So off screen chemistry does impact, but is not a criteria for the chemistry to work on screen too,” he adds. “As actors you don’t have to be in a relationship to make the chemistry work.”
As for his favourite co-stars he is quick to point out that it would be unfair to compare them. “I think all the actresses I have worked with have been very talented including Kareena and I really do cherish the experience of working with each of them. Be it Deepika (Padukone) or Rani (Mukerji), they all have been really special. With Kareena of course, it’s different completely, but on screen like I said, it’s not just us, but our roles that take the wheel when it comes to the chemistry, so all are equally special,” shares Saif.

Vidya-Emraan get ‘dirty’ again

Actors Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi will soon be getting ‘dirty’ again as they will start shooting for filmmaker Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar. The romantic comic thriller will go on floors in August this year. Vidya has worked with Rajkumar in No One Killed Jessica before and Emraan in Dirty Picture. Talking of his choice of lead actors, Rajkumar says, “To stay true to the script, signing the ideal cast was of utmost importance.”

Long live the gossip queen!

This heroine may not be creating news with her films, but she surely knows how to spread it. The naarad muni of B-Town, this actress was an early learner of the fact that if you can’t act opposite the heroes, it was best to befriend their wives. But what sets her apart from the other nosey characters that Bollywood has no dearth of, is that she doesn’t let any gossip be traced back to her. However, she seems to be losing her charm as her friends now realise that she’s nothing more than a chaabi queen. But then she still is a fave of the star wife coterie and the reason is simple: Who doesn’t like to know that the other one’s laundry is dirtier than your own, right? And so the queen continues with her gossipy escapades, adding some sadistic pleasure to the otherwise boring lives of the star wives club.

Celebrities Married to the co-star

Celebrities Married to the co-star

Do stars get the same love when they release their films after getting married to each other? We take a look.

From one's approach in day-to-day existence to accommodating the significant other in every decision, marriage changes quite a few things.

Back in Bollywood, it is also believed to influence the way the audience perceives its stars. All the more if two actors tie the knot to each other. While some get off with flying colours, others fail to recreate history.

Up next, it is newlyweds Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza turn to pass the test with Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya all set to hit the screens on February 24. Here's a look at how other celebrity couples performed in comparison.

The pressure was understandable. Especially after receiving accolades for their sublime chemistry in Guru and blazing dance moves in Kajra Re(Bunty Aur Babli).

The newly-married Bachchans, Abhishek and Aishwarya, apparently felt a tad conscious while facing the camera for Ram Gopal Varma's follow-up to Sarkar.

Varma used this anxiety to the film's advantage to shoot their interactions as freshly introduced characters discussing business propositions.

They may arguably be the most stable couples of Bollywood, but they haven't done too many memorable films together.

Ajay Devgn (he had an 'a' in his surname then) and Kajol began dating while making some of the lousiest films of their career, movies like Hulchul and Goondaraj.

Ever since their pairing clicked in Indra Kumar's over-the-top comedy Ishq and the French Kiss-inspired, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, one expected something special from the duo's first outing after marriage.

Dil Kya Kare, a Devgn home production directed by Prakash Jha, turned out to be a box office washout.

Viewers didn't care for the overdose of melodrama or Kajol's 'other woman' act. A few months later, they tried to work their combined magic on the ambitiously scaled catastrophe, Raju Chacha.

Both films, alas, are best remembered for incurring huge losses.

From Khel Khel Mein to Do Dooni Chaar, the Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh romance has only gotten better.

When Hindi cinema's celebrated on and off screen jodi decided to make it official in 1980, they already had hits like Rafoo Chakkar, Kabhi Kabhie and Amar Akbar Anthony.

Although Neetu resolved to call it quits in true Kapoor bahu style, their first movie as Mr and Mrs Kapoor remains a typical potboiler, Dhan Daulat, featuring the R D Burman hit, Jeena Kya Aji Pyaar Bina.

Under Hrishikesh Mukherjee's masterful direction and working with an intricate script about the conflict between a wife's success and a husband's ego, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri delivered most sensitive performances in Abhimaan, their first release after marriage.

While some felt the story was too close to home -- Jaya was decidedly the bigger star at that time -- Hrishida revealed that Abhimaan was inspired by Kishore Kumar's first marriage to singer Ruma Guha Thakurta, singer Amit Kumar's mum.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini's union wasn't devoid of controversy.

Romancing each other on more than two dozen films like Seeta Aur Geeta, Naya Zamana and Sholay rubbed off on Bollywood's most beloved on screen couple and they couldn't contain the attraction.

The macho hero and his Dream Girl defied convention, changed their faith so that they could marry without Dharamji having to divorce first wife, Prakash, the mother of his elder four children.

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu hadn't done a single film before they wed in 1966. He was 44; she was 22.

Even after getting hitched, the glamourous Saira turned up hot in hits like Shagird, Padosan and Purab Aur Paschim.

The couple later worked on three films -- Gopi, Sagina and Bairaag.

Gopi came out at time when Dilip Kumar's stardom was losing its lustre. Despite the thespian's best efforts to pull off a village simpleton and Saira's lively gaon-ki-gori act, Gopi lacked the magic of a Ram Aur Shyam or Gunga Jumna and performed moderately at the box office.

The marriage of his spontaneity to her charm resulted in some unforgettable moments on the big screen.

Though never picture perfect, Kishore Kumar and Madhubala's pairing boasted a unique endearing quality that made them undeniably entertaining.

They hit it off while working on the comic classic, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, and exchanged vows soon after.

Marriage didn't change a thing. Their jovial camaraderie was just the same in films like Jhumroo and Half Ticket.

Kalpana 'Mona' Kartik made her debut opposite Dev Anand in Guru Dutt's Baazi.

The film was a big hit and so was their personal chemistry. They paired up again for the Chetan Anand-directed Taxi Driver.

Not keen on the hullaballoo about their attachment, 'Mona' and Dev married while working on the film.

Taxi Driver made box office glory, but they didn't make a film together again and stayed married till Devsaab's sad death.

Sparks were bound to fly when the effervescent Geeta Bali met the dynamic Shammi Kapoor on the sets of the oddly titled Miss Coca Cola.

Although she was a star and Kapoor, a handsome struggler, she didn't shy from doing a cameo, masquerading as a man, in Rangeen Raaten.

Romance bloomed into commitment and the attractive duo impulsively tied the knot, early one morning at the Banganga Temple.

Alas, death snatched Geeta Bali early, abruptly ending one of tinsel town's memorable love stories.

In the wilderness

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who is currently in Kenya, shooting for a film, is making the most of his stay there. The actor, who is an avid photographer, takes his camera along to wherever he travels and Kenya seems to have clearly mesmerised him. He is most excited about being out in the open, amidst wild animals. The actor, who is currently shooting in Masai Mara, went on a wildlife safari a couple of days back. He posted about how he was in the company of wild animals. “Ok to scoot back into our safari vehicles because a group of 10 lionesses have gotten out to hunt antelopes,” he said. Neil was closest to nature, amidst wild animals, shooting in the dense jungles. Sharing his experience, he recently posted on Twitter, “A lion just passed my car and had a cheetah running along side! Incredible sight! Nature and wildlife! So not corrupted.”

Actors Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan recently decided to walk down memory lane. The trio, who were last seen together in 3 Idiots, decided to croon a number from their film at the Colors Umang Awards function. Those present at the event said that the three actors seemed happy to meet each other and it was sort of a reunion for them. They sang songs like All izz well and the like on stage and enthralled the audience. A source says, “When the trio was asked to come on stage, Aamir couldn’t refuse and soon Sharman and Madhavan joined him. It was quite evident that they enjoyed each other’s company a lot. In fact, they gave competition to singers Himesh Reshammiya and Shreya Ghoshal with their enthusiasm.” We guess the track Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge could perfectly fit the trio’s fondness for each other!
