REMIX THE DRAPE

REMIX THE DRAPE

Throw on a gilet, ditch the traditional blouse for a `knotty' shirt, slip into a pair of hot pants or skinny jeans and heels -you're ready to take on the world!

They say , an Indian woman looks best in a sari. And if you want to break free from the monotonous drape, here are five looks that you can achieve by mixing and remixing the sari with other accessories...
BELT IT OUT
A slim belt around the waist will make your waist look slimmer and ensure the pleats and pallu stay in place. For a smarter look, wrap the pallu around the neck instead of throwing it over a shoulder. Avoid over-accessorising it with chunky jewellery and wear minimal makeup.

GILET EDGE
The trendiest twist to sari fashion, a sleeveless acid wash gilet will ensure that you make a quirky statement. Drape the sari like a dhoti -doing away with the pallu entirely. Ditch the blouse for a solid hued tank top or crop top -avoid long sleeves with this style. Add an open front gilet to transform the sari into a high fashion ensemble.

HOT PANTS, HOTTER SARI
Drape a sari around a pair of shorts.Pleat the six yards on one side, retain the pallu and slip into heels. Tanks or noodle-strap blouses will go best with this look or you could opt for a polo neck blouse. Stick to minimal accessories like a bangle or ear cuffs.

TRUSTY OL' SKINNIES
Drape the sari around a pair of skinny jeans or cigarette pants. Choose a lighter fabric, such as crepe or chiffon, and replace the petticoat with jeans. Keep the pallu narrow to flaunt your midriff and arrange the pleats on one side so that the pant can be seen.

THE SHIRT BLOUSE
Drape the sari around the waist like a flared ghagra and pair it with a knotted shirt. Alternatively , you could wear dhoti pants underneath D and show it off with a thigh-high g slit on one side. Opt for minimal d accessories. s
